From its enlightened influenced has emerged; a new sensitivity to race, nationality, and culture, increased opportunity for minority groups of different sexes, abilities, and religions. Canadians are trying to display a less discriminant outlook on the wide variety of individuals that live in this mosaic that stretches from the atlantic to the pacific and from the arctic to the 49th parallel. It is a wonderful farce that I believe most of us buy.

Yes 2006 is full of opportunity and freedom, if only you belong to the right minority and if only you have the right disabilities. However, for 12-20% of the white male population, and a small percentage of the felmale population Canada is a less friendly evnvironment. In fact, some of us might call it a dreary wasteland of cone-functioning morons that hold black and white pieces of cardboard in front of us, and when we answer their colour query correctly outright ridicule and deny our difference. If you don't get it, which I know 80-88% of you don't, I am refering to the colour blind-more sensitivley know as the colour deficient.

That's right, in the images to the left, 12-20% of us only see circles and dots. I'd post which numbers "normal" people see, but I CAN'T SEE THEM!!

So where is the injustice?. . .Well, colour blindness disrupts our ability to distiguish between some colours from others, the most common form of colour blindness is red-green type, where the individual cannot distiguish red or green hues in some colours. Often the colours red and green are confused. the colours purple and blue almost indecipherable, yellows and greens blend together, and any light shade can easily be mistaken for grey. How many of you guys have ever mistaken a street light at night for a green trafic light?. . .my guess is 12-20% at most. How many of you are sometimes incapable of distinguishing between red, green and yellow traffic lights when they appear on there own? How many of you consistantly lose at games like "Dr. Mario", "Tetris", and all those stupid gem or block games on the internet becasue the colours chosen by the game's designers are just those that are difficult to distinguish? I could name 12 colour options that I and many like me could easily separtate, but Nintendo and Matel insist on using green, yellow, pink and purple.

If traffic lights were red for stop, and blue for go I garauntee that I would never confuse the two and then be hunted down and yelled at by some colour proficient lunitic. When was the last time any of you thought it was fair to follow some guy in a wheelchair to his destination and then scream at him becasue of his/her inablitity to walk?

Oh and the Wheelchair people, don't even get me started on that priviliged class. Right now the City of Lethbridge is investing thousands of dollars, in man hours and materials, to insure that every single corner and crosswalk has a wheelchair accessible ramp down to the street and back up. Meanwhile city hall and parliment can't invest a couple bucks to change the green colour filter on traffic lights to something unlike red. I haven't done a study but I doubt that 12-20% of males including white or any other ethnic group in Canada is confined to a wheelchair...yet they, with there high performance ball bearings and cushy seats continue to eat up tax dollars, while I am left hesitating at intersection after intersection wondering if I should venture through or just wait..."why don't I look at the light position?" the typical CP (colour proficient) asks...CAUSE NOBODY ELSE HAS TO!!
My beef isn't with the wheelchair community, they can have their cake and eat it too..I just want one small piece of mine, and I don't need it decorated in red and green icing.

Disposable Leg #39

Mark of the Beast

August 28 2006...does this date mean anything to anyone? how about April 17 2007? what about the age 65? Well they all have something in common...41.
Today i was out on the weekly (not so much weekly but unpredictable) shop ride, upon returning home I realized that I had the number 41 disturbingly and seemingly demonically etched into the back of my leg. I don't know if I should await the apocalypse, look for fog, or use it as a loto number. Either way I know that if i wake up tomorrow and it looks like a 40, and a 39 the next day, I'm consulting Nostradamus.

Where have all the seagulls gone?

Ok, I'm finally up and running with this hip blog thing. Now I'll I need is to do is upload all those obscene pictures of me so I get a whole bunch of hits. I just have one quick question, I asked Chris Birrel the other day but all he could give we were some statistical studies on seagull population distribution, and geographical diversity. So why don't I ever see a family of seagulls with little gulletts...or whatever they are called. See baby seagulls are so unheard of that I don't even know what to call them. shouldn't they be waddling around like ducks or something? I've seen spotted younger seagulls before, but they were already full grown. Anyway if anyone knows of any great gull blogs maybe send them my way. I'm sure Brenden will send me some online video clip of baby seagulls...he seems to find everything. Untill then I'll just be out here in vancouver watching the fireworks...or waiting impatiently

-i'm out (here in vancouver)
